Jalandhar, March 29, 2019: A seminar on "Jallianwala Bagh Massacre (1919)" was organized by Ancient Culture Society at DAV College, Jalandhar in which Prof.Sukhdev Singh (Retired Prof from Guru Nanak Dev University) joined as the Chief Guest of seminar. Principal Dr.S.K.Arora and HOD of history Prof.Vipin Jhanjhi gave a warm floral welcome to the chief guest Prof.Sukhdev Singh.

Prof.Sukhdev Singh told the students the importance of history of our country. He said that the things that happened in past are to remembered in present time also because those incidents were the main source of our independence . History is not just the past events, but it is related with the present and future also. He took also the queries of students and made them explain very well the importance of Jallianwala Bagh incident.

Principal Dr. S. K. Arora thanked Prof. Sukhdev singh for giving such information to the students which will guide them in their life . He also told that Jallianwala Bagh massacre on April 13, 1919, in which British troops fired on a large crowd of unarmed Indians in Amritsar in the Punjab region of India, killing several hundred people and wounding many hundreds more. It marked a turning point in India’s modern history, in that it left a permanent scar on Indo-British relations and was the prelude to Mohandas Gandhi’s full commitment to the cause of Indian nationalism and independence from Britain.

HOD of History Prof. Vipin Jhanjhi told the students that the history of our country is very important and it must be known by every person living here. It carries various incidents which mark the independence of India and Jallianwala Bagh Massacre is one of those incidents which proved to be the turning point of our country . He also thanked Prof. Sukhdev Singh for being present in the seminar.

Prof. Raj Kumar (Assistant Prof Ancient Culture Society) said that the main motive of this Ancient Culture Society is to give students knowledge about their culture and history so that they get to know the sacrifices made in the past. Jallianwala Bagh is also an important part of the history that is why we are here today to tell the students about this massacre.

Prof. Manoj Kumar, Prof. Neetu sharma, Prof. Aruna, Prof. Diksha, Prof. Sharanjit along with students were present in the Seminar.
