Self-reliant Haryana to be built through Women's Entrepreneurship: HIRD Director Dr. Chauhan

Nilokheri, August 4, 2026: Entrepreneurship is not merely a means of establishing businesses but a powerful vision for self-reliance, innovation, and employment generation, said Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD), while inaugurating a seven-day Entrepreneurship Development Training Programme.
The programme aims to strengthen the capacities of women resource persons by equipping them with the knowledge and skills required to promote entrepreneurship in rural areas, expand self-employment opportunities, and empower women associated with Self-Help Groups (SHGs). Programme Coordinator Dr. Sushil Mehta outlined the objectives of the training and briefed participants about the various technical sessions planned during the programme.
Addressing the participants, Dr. Chauhan emphasized that training becomes meaningful only when its impact reaches the last person in society. He urged the women resource persons to treat the programme not as a formal exercise but as a mission to transform rural women into successful entrepreneurs, thereby contributing to the vision of an Atmanirbhar Haryana and a Viksit Bharat.
He further stated that women in rural India have set a remarkable example of economic empowerment through Self-Help Groups and expressed confidence that trained master trainers would further accelerate this positive transformation across villages.
Resource person L.P. Bhatt, an expert from the National Skill Institute, Panipat, delivered detailed sessions on skill development, enterprise creation, modern training methodologies, and capacity building in line with the evolving needs of industries.
Among those present on the occasion were Sandeep Kumar, Kamaldeep Sangwan, women from Self-Help Groups representing various districts of Haryana, and other participants.
