Secunderabad Club Youth Regatta concludes

The Six Day 3rd YAI Secunderabad Club Youth Regatta concludes on Saturday.  Major General Ajay Sharma and Sharath Choudhary,  Managing Committee Sports Sunil Bantia; Commodore Sailing Club Arjun Pradipak;  Joint Secretary YAI, Capt. Jitendra Dikshit; Chairman of the protest Committee Col. Deepak Dikhit;  Principal Race Officer ML Sharma and Head of Technical Committee Col. Vivek Ahlawat etc and others graced the closing ceremony.

Hyderabad, July 15, 2023: The Six Day 3rd YAI Secunderabad Club Youth Regatta concludes on Saturday.  Major General Ajay Sharma and Sharath Choudhary,  Managing Committee Sports Sunil Bantia; Commodore Sailing Club Arjun Pradipak;  Joint Secretary YAI, Capt. Jitendra Dikshit; Chairman of the protest Committee Col. Deepak Dikhit;  Principal Race Officer ML Sharma and Head of Technical Committee Col. Vivek Ahlawat etc and others graced the closing ceremony.

 

Speaking on the occasion Major General Ajay Sharma said catching young people and training them in sailing is very good. Secunderabad Club is doing a yeoman service, he said.

 

Sharath Choudhary said winning or losing is not important.  Fighting is important.

 

The Regatta had  four classes--01. ILCA 4. 02.29er class 03. Optimist main/green and 04. First-time Open 420 event is happened to encourage youngsters informed Arjun Pradipak, Aswin Nandan Singh and Vikrant Boorugu, the organising team

 

Sixty entries are received from across India. Some of the participants or representation organisations include: Army Yachting Navy Mumbai, INWTC Navy Mumbai, Trishna sailing club Army Mysore, Mysore Army Sports, National Sailing School, Bhopal; New Boys School, Goa; Yacht Club of Hyderabad; Secunderabad Sailing Club and others

 

For the first time, there is equal participation of a male and female jury.

 

The Regatta was organised by Secunderabad Club, one of the oldest sailing clubs in India. The Secunderabad Club is probably one of the few Clubs in the world which has its own Sailing Annexe overlooking the vast and picturesque Hussain Sagar Lake.
