Jalandhar, May 24, 2016: On the second day of Wood Carving Camp of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, the renowned artist Charanjit Singh Jaito and upcoming artist Parminder Singh interacted with the students. Artist Charanjit Singh Jaito from Mohali said that the Art has way to soothe one's soul spiritually. He said even his ancestors were involved in the art of wood carving and for 12 consecutive years, he himself has worked hard to learn the tactics of this art. Nowadays, he gives shape to his deeper thoughts with the medium of carving not only on wood but also on iron, stone and raisin. His distinguished skills are recognized by many institutions by honouring him with awards like National Award from Aroma, New Delhi, All India Art Exhibition, Shimla, Government Museum, H.P., Malwa Region Heritage Foundation, Bathinda, Sobha Singh Memorial Chitarkar Society, Bathinda etc.
Parminder Singh who has also participated in this workshop is one of the rising artists of Punjab. His works are inspired by nature and culture. According to him, God's best creation is the human mind. He said it is a matter of proud to take birth in places like India where art is worshiped by all. His famous artistic works include Birth of Energy, Nightmare, Shaktipunj, Twins-2, Shakti Chakra Shakti Satambh etc. Parminder Singh is also awarded by many prestigious institutions like Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi, AIFACS, New Delhi, Punjabi University Insignia Award, Chandigarh.
Principal Dr. Sucharita highly appreciated the themes of spirituality and nature as depicted in the artistic works of these eminent artists. She said it is a matter of honour for all the students to observe their skills and learn the basics of art from these renowned artists.
