Chandigarh, August 19, 2022: The Department of Zoology, Panjab University, Chandigarh in collaboration with Chandigarh Region Innovation & Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) organized a scientific webinar today. Dr. Paras Anand, is an Associate Professor at the Department of Infectious Disease 

Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College, London. Prof. Gurjaspreet Singh, welcome the guests and introduced the speaker to the audience. Dr. Y.K. Rawal presented the vote of thanks. Faculty members and almost 100 students from different departments were joined the session. Dr. Archana Chauhan coordinated the webinar. 

Dr Paras Anand is an alumnus of the Department of Zoology, and passed his Bachelors and masters from the department. He obtained his PhD from the Post-graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, India. He conducted his post-doctoral research at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg, Germany, and at the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, USA where he published seminal studies defining key roles of several innate immune receptors of the Nod-like receptor family. Since 2014, Dr Anand leads a group at the Imperial College London. His lab investigates the innate immune mechanisms and in particular the activation mechanisms of inflammasomes in infectious and inflammatory diseases. His group is also interested in understanding how metabolic pathways regulate immune outcomes. Dr. Anand is a recipient of Alexander von Humboldt fellowship, Marie Curie fellowship, a seed award from the Wellcome Trust, New Investigator grant from the Medical Research Council, UK and several travel awards. 
He inspired and guided the students about research opportunities abroad.
