Chandigarh, April 8, 2015: The Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes (PSSCC) today hailed the Union Government for its landmark initiative by launching MUDRA bank.
In an appreciation letter sent to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Chairman of Commission Rajesh Bagha said this corpus fund would encourage the small entrepreneurs hailing from downtrodden segment of society to setup their own medium and small scale industrial units. Bagha said that this financial assistance in the form of corpus fund to the marginalised sections would enable them to be self-reliant and self-sustainable. He said the union government has taken this rightful decision to uplift micro-finance institutions by instituting a corpus fund of Rs. 20000 crore and credit guarantee corpus of Rs. 3000 crore through statuary enactment.
At the same time the Chairman urged the Punjab government to generate awareness amongst masses about the virtues of this corpus fund so that the people may avail full advantage of this unique scheme. He said that a consistent campaign by all the departments of the Punjab government should be initiated at the grass root level besides organising seminars, lectures  etc to make aware the general masses about the salient features of this scheme.
