Rohtak, May 26, 2026: In a major push to strengthen urban sanitation and ensure monsoon preparedness, Deputy Commissioner and Municipal Commissioner Sachin Gupta has directed Municipal Corporation officials to intensify cleanliness operations across the city, eliminate open garbage dumping and complete all critical drainage and sewer cleaning works within stipulated timelines.
Chairing a detailed review meeting at the Camp Office with Municipal Corporation officials, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed city sanitation arrangements, waste collection systems, drain cleaning operations and monsoon preparedness measures, and issued clear directions for proactive civic management.
He emphasised that urban cleanliness, efficient waste handling and timely drainage preparedness are essential not only for public hygiene but also for preventing waterlogging and civic disruption during the rainy season.
“Rohtak must be cleaner, more organised and fully prepared before the monsoon. Open garbage dumping cannot be allowed, and all sanitation and drainage systems must function efficiently,” said DC Sachin Gupta.
The Deputy Commissioner directed that garbage collected through manual sweeping, door-to-door collection and private waste handlers must be transferred directly into authorised municipal waste collection vehicles.
He made it clear that garbage should not be dumped temporarily along roadsides or at unauthorised locations under any circumstances. To strengthen operational efficiency, officials were directed to deploy additional tractor-trolleys wherever required and ensure uninterrupted waste lifting across the city. Private waste handlers and sanitation staff have also been instructed to strictly adhere to municipal waste disposal protocols.
As part of broader sanitation reforms, the Municipal Corporation is working to phase out temporary garbage points across the city in a systematic manner. Special cleanliness drives are being intensified in Market areas, Major roads and intersections, Public places, High-footfall urban zones and Sensitive civic locations.
The objective is to improve cleanliness standards, strengthen waste management discipline and provide citizens with a cleaner urban environment.
With the upcoming rainy season in focus, the Deputy Commissioner directed that all drains, nalas, sewer lines and drainage channels within the Municipal Corporation area be cleaned in a time-bound manner.
Officials have been instructed to utilize Municipal Corporation super sucker machines along with Public Health Engineering Department jetting machines, and Additional field sanitation resources wherever required. Special emphasis has been placed on desilting and removal of obstructions to ensure uninterrupted stormwater flow.
The Deputy Commissioner directed officials to identify all locations that experienced waterlogging during the previous monsoon season and complete preventive interventions well in advance.
Necessary arrangements, including installation of dewatering pumps in vulnerable areas, are to be made proactively to ensure rapid response during rainfall events.
He clearly said that citizens should not face avoidable waterlogging-related inconvenience during the rainy season.
DC Sachin Gupta said civic cleanliness cannot be sustained through administrative efforts alone and appealed to residents to actively cooperate by using designated waste collection systems and avoiding littering or open dumping.
He also directed officials to ensure prompt redressal of sanitation-related complaints on priority so that citizens receive improved municipal services without delay. The meeting was attended by Joint Commissioner Namita Singh, Municipal Corporation officials and sanitation staff.
