Ludhiana, March 8, 2019: Ramgarhia Girls College , Miller Ganj , Ludhiana celebrated International Women’s Day with a discussion by Dr.Narinder Sandhu ,former Principal, Ramgarhia Girls College , Dr.Sapna Chamadia, Associate Professor , Rajdhani College ,University of Delhi also known for her book ‘Roz Wali Aurat’ and Advocate Inderjit Kaur, Legal expert on Women laws and In Laws. Mrs.Rajinder Kaur, Director,GST Group was the Chief Guest.

Principal Dr.Inderjit Kaur extended floral welcome to the eminent guests.Principal Dr. Kuldeep Singh graced the occasion with his presence. Dr. Sandhu talked about the growing global movements like #Me Too and # Times UP movements and inspired students by saying that women all around the world need to contribute the vocal fight for equality.

Dr.Sapna talked about gender discrimination, one of the major violations of human rights which serve as a hurdle for the growth of any nation. Advocate Inderjit Kaur made students aware of various legislations to ensure their protection and to promote their welfare. On this day, the Dept. of Youth Welfare, Panjab University, Chandigarh, organized ‘Hand Writing Competition’ in which 131 students from various colleges participated.

Dr. Nirmal Jaura, Director, the Dept. of Youth Welfare graced the occasion. He appreciated the efforts of the various colleges who took an initiative to improve the writing skills of the students. S. Ranjodh Singh, President, Ramgarhia Educational Council appreciated the efforts of the Youth Welfare Dept. and said that person’s handwriting is a reflection of a person’s personality. A lot can be understood about a person by looking at his /her handwriting. For making students aware about the importance of Eye Care, eye check up camp was also the part of the day. Renowned Ophthalmologist Dr. Abhijeet Dhami, Dhami Eye Care Hospital, Ludhaina accompanied by his staff examined the students. The objective of the eye camp was to facilitate early deficiency among students and provide tips on caring for and protecting their eyes. Principal Dr. Inderjit Kaur said that eyes are an important part of our health. But some eye disease can lead to vision loss so it is important to identify and treat eye disease as early as possible. At the end of the day, a play, “Paro-Jo Ek Kahani Nahi”, written by Mrs. Kamaljeet Kaur also threw light on the concept of gender discrimination and touched the heart of one and all with its soulful performance. The winners of the hand writing competition were also given away prizes. S.Gurcharan Singh Lotey, General Secretary ,Ramgarhia Educational Council delivered vote of thanks to all the eminent guests for making the day a great success.The results of the Hand-writing Competition is given below:
