Research possibilities in multilingual environment

Chandigarh: Department of English and Cultural Studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh organised a WebEx webinar on Research Possibilities in a Multilingual Environment here today. Professor Pushpender Syal was invited as the speaker for presenting her views on this topic. The webinar witnessed a huge turnout from faculty members, scholars and students.
Professor Syal enlightened the audience with importance of discovering the complexities of the contemporary multilingual environment and rediscover the importance of other vernacular languages and the subsequent dialects. She further intimated the audience with the rampant pitfalls of the English language teaching in the Indian classrooms from primary level to higher level of education. Finally a strong emphasis was laid on the importance of research work on languages other than English and various methods in which such research can be conducted by future scholars and researchers to change the scenario of language learning. The talk was followed by a substantial discussion on the topic. Overall the webinar was successfully conducted and proved to be highly worthwhile for aspiring researchers
