Rohtak, October 11, 2026: Effective academic leadership, innovative teaching and continuous learning are essential to achieving excellence in higher education, Haryana State Higher Education Council vice-chairman Prof S.K. Gakhar said at the valedictory session of a week-long faculty development programme (FDP) at Maharshi Dayanand University (MDU), Rohtak.

Organised jointly by MDU’s Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) and DAV Institute of Management, Faridabad, under the UGC’s Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme, the FDP focused on Academic Leadership Competencies: Enhancing Excellence in Higher Education.

Dean academic affairs Prof Randeep Rana said teachers must go beyond classroom instruction to foster critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills among students. He urged faculty members to adopt emerging technologies and modern teaching methods to improve educational quality and contribute to institutional development.

FDP director Prof Munish Garg said the programme aimed to encourage continuous learning, innovative teaching practices and effective academic leadership. Participants shared their experiences and highlighted the value of sessions on strategic thinking, institutional development and the evolving role of teachers in higher education.

Certificates were distributed to participants at the concluding session. Deputy director Dr Madhuri Hooda, members of the DAV Institute of Management team and participating faculty members were also present.
