Rohtak, August 21, 2025: Acclaimed Bollywood writer, director, and producer Ashwini Chaudhary visited the campus of Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLC SUPVA) on the invitation of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya and engaged in an interactive session with students of various departments of Film & TV.

Ashwini Chaudhary, born and brought up in Haryana, who began his career as an assistant director and went on to win the National Film Award for Best Debut Director for Laado, is widely known for his films Dhoop, Siskiyaan, Good Boy Bad Boy, Jodi Breakers, and Setters, as well as popular television serials like Lakhon Mein Ek, Zindagi Khatti Meethi, and Rishton Ka Chakravyuh. He currently serves as the President of Golden Ratio Films Pvt. Ltd.

Advising the students, he emphasized the importance of staying rooted in one’s culture and instincts while conceiving a story. “Only when stories emerge from your roots and instincts do they carry soul. Look at the blockbusters from South India — they are telling stories from the hinterland, reflecting traditions and regional culture. That is why their cinema resonates so strongly across the country,” he said.

Discussing the prospects of the Haryanvi film industry, Chaudhary pointed out that while the government has introduced several incentives for filmmaking in Haryana, the real challenge lies in utilizing them judiciously. “Unless filmmakers bring in novel ideas and quality content, it will be difficult for mainstream, quality cinema to emerge from Haryana. There is no dearth of talent in the state, and DLC SUPVA is already a hub of cinematic prowess. What is needed is vision, discipline, and originality,” he remarked.

He also praised Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya for his leadership in promoting cinematic education and promised to engage DLC SUPVA students in various commercial projects, giving them opportunities to gain professional exposure.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amit Arya expressed his delight at Chaudhary’s visit, stating, “Our effort at DLC SUPVA has always been to expose students to the best practitioners of cinema. Ashwini’s career, which spans both critically acclaimed and commercially successful projects, is a testament to perseverance, rooted storytelling, and adaptation. His interaction will inspire our students to think differently and prepare them to contribute meaningfully to Indian cinema.”

Registrar Dr. Gunjan Malik Manocha highlighted the value of the interaction, noting, “Such engagements give students an understanding that cinema is not just about glamour, but about hard work, sincerity, and connecting with the audience through relatable narratives. Chaudhary’s insights on rooted storytelling and disciplined filmmaking will surely guide our students in shaping their creative journeys.”
