Ludhiana, February 5, 2025: Rajya Sabha MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, an environmentalist dedicated to making Buddha Dariya pollution-free, today inspected over half a dozen dairies, including in Bhukhri Khurd.

During the inspection, he observed that the roads around these dairies were filled with dung and urine, which were contaminating Buddha Dariya. Alarmed by this, Sant Seechewal directed MC Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh Khaira to take strict action against the negligent officials. He emphasized that no leniency should be shown towards any party responsible for polluting the river.

MP Sant Seechewal further explained that, under the Seechewal Model, work on constructing a pond in Bhukhri Khurd is underway. Two large excavator machines have been deployed for the past four days to remove the dung from the village pond.

In a meeting held with district administrative officers, he provided an update on the special campaign launched on December 22, 2024, aimed at preventing the flow of contaminated and toxic water into Buddha Dariya. He stated that the large-scale disposal of dung into the river by dairies has been obstructing its flow, and corrective measures are being urgently implemented.

The meeting was attended by several key officials, including the CEO of PMIDC, Deepti Uppal, Municipal Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, Additional Commissioner Paramdeep Singh Khaira, SDM Jasleen Kaur Bhullar, officers from PPCB, Drainage Department, Panchayat Department, GLADA, Electricity Department among other departments.

This ongoing campaign represents a significant step towards restoring Buddha Dariya to its natural, pollution-free state, and MP Sant Seechewal assured his full support and collaboration in the process.
