2022 was the beginning of a new dawn in television with the robust content slate becoming even more diverse as it marked the end of all pandemic-related restrictions. As India’s leading General Entertainment channel, COLORS has been living up to the ethos of delivering refreshing and wholesome content in both the fiction and non-fiction genres. The channel has continuously pushed the envelope to offer some of the most unique stories, themed around love, life, fun and drama, while keeping the audiences hooked to their television screens. With the year coming to an end, let us look at all the shows that COLORS helmed this year.
 
Trailing the unique stories of incredible women
Saavi Ki Savaari – Sapno ki ek alag daastaan
An eccentric love story of an autorickshaw driver and a businessman, COLORS’ ‘Saavi Ki Savaari’, is breaking stereotypes as an optimistic young woman chooses to be the first female autorickshaw driver! With Samridhii Shukla and Farman Haider playing the leads, this unique narrative has won the hearts of the audiences since its premiere to date making it a must-watch.  
Sherdil Shergill – Soch badlegi zamaana badlega
Bringing to the forefront the plight of all ambitious women, COLORS ‘Sherdil Shergill’ spotlights the life of an independent woman (Manmeet played by Surbhi Chandan) who is an architect by passion and a man (Rajkumar), who is in the profession owing to family pressure. These two diametrically opposite energies came together having entertained and enthralled audiences with their performances and love story.
Durga Aur Charu – Do behno ke sapno ki Kahani
 Carrying forward the legacy of ‘Barrister Babu’, COLORS’ ‘Durga Aur Charu’ is a family drama revolving around two separated sisters, who are different as chalk and cheese and unaware of each other’s existence. Apart from being bound by blood, what they have in common is their dream to pursue law and fight injustice. With popular actors Aurra Bhatnagar and Vaishnavi Prajapati in the lead roles of Durga and Charu respectively, this heartwarming tale has elicited intrigue among the viewers, who are rooting for their union.

Naagin 6 – Ek naya roop, ek nayi duniya
India’s favourite fantasy fiction show - ‘Naagin’ returned to COLORS with a sixth season. The serpent queen comes back with a vengeance to save the world. Garnering incredible viewership and spurring numerous conversations on social media, the super successful season featured an ensemble of the cast including Tejasswi Prakash, Simba Nagpal, Sudhaa Chandran, Mahekk Chahal, Urvashi Dholakia and Manit Joura.
 
Pishachini – Ek khubsurat jaal
Changing the course of television entertainment COLORS’ first-of-its-kind supernatural drama ‘Pishachini’ unravels the tale of the Rajput family and their encounter with an evil demoness, Rani. With Nyrraa M Banerji, Rakshit and Jiya Shankar essaying the roles of the protagonists, audiences have been hooked to the show with twists and turns keeping them on the edge of their seat!  
 
Love is in the air with a twist!
Parineetii – Pyaar, dosti aur rishte ki dor
In an unconventional love triangle, where two best friends marry the same man, COLORS launched one of the riveting love stories of Indian television ‘Parineetii’. Anchal Sahu, Tanvi Dogra and Ankur Verma have enraptured viewers in this gripping drama that depicted an exciting tale of love, deceit, and friendship as the three characters navigate their lives.
Pyar Ke Saat Vachan Dharam Patnii – Kuch rishte nibhaana nahi aasaan
They say destiny can change your life in a flash! This stands true for COLORS’ show 'Pyar Ke Saat Vachan Dharam Patnii’, where two couples from opposing worlds clash in a twist of fate. Fahmaan Khan, Keerti Sachdeva, Kritika Singh Yadav and Akash Jagga come together to take the audiences on an unforgettable journey that changed the course of their lives forever.

COLORS has been known for bringing innovative reality concepts to audiences that keep them engaged and entertained and this year was no different! Throughout the year, fans have enjoyed India’s biggest talent hunt - ‘Hunarbaaz - Desh Ki Shaan,’ a twist to the original – ‘Dance Deewane Juniors,’ everyone’s favourite shows such as ‘Bigg Boss’ and the number 1 stunt-based reality ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ and welcomed with open arms the return of ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’!
 
Hunarbaaz - Desh Ki Shaan – Desh ka hunar ko duniya ka salaam
Finding India’s biggest and brightest talents from every nook and corner was COLORS' first of its kind homegrown talent show, ‘Hunarbaaz - Desh Ki Shaan’! Bollywood legends Mithun Chakraborty, Karan Johar, and the multi-talented diva Parineeti Chopra were in charge of fostering these ‘Hunarbaaz’. A unique talent show that put the desh as the ‘Super Judge’ and in charge of selecting the best hunars!
 
Bigg Boss 16 – Iss saal ka sabse bada jashn

India’s favourite reality show returned with a Bigg circus and a promise of high-voltage drama, entertainment, and excitement. Within only 5 weeks of launch, the season reached out to over 120 Mn viewers on COLORS and 600 Mn views on Voot and emerged as the no. 1 non-fiction show. This season is full of twists and turns, especially as Bigg Boss plays the game himself! It will be interesting to watch which contestant prevails in this journey!
 
Khatron Ke Khiladi – Ek aur saal bemisaal
India’s most loved stunt-based reality show ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’ made a comeback with its 12th season with Bollywood’s ace filmmaker Rohit Shetty hosting this adrenaline-inducing show once again! Shot in the scenic locales of Cape Town, this season featured some breathtakingly daring feats that stunned the viewers. Garnering unprecedented viewership and engagement, the show grabbed the no.1 spot in the non-fiction category and sparked a great deal of curiosity among the audience.
 
Dance Deewane Junior – Dance Ki Diwaangi
A platform for the little wonders! India's talent for dance is unparalleled and COLORS’ ‘Dance Deewane Juniors’ proved this beyond a shadow of doubt! Judged by Bollywood icon Neetu Kapoor alongside dance maestros Nora Fatehi and Marzi Pestonji, the show captured some fantastic performances by its contestants. Handpicked from various parts of the nation through a stringent auditions process, children aged between 4-14 years set the stage on fire whilst performing in solos, duos, and groups
 
Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10 – Sitaron Ki Mehfil
Fans were eagerly waiting for the return of their favourite celebrity reality show ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ which made a grand comeback with its dazzling tenth season after a hiatus of five long years. The dance battle was judged by the highly acclaimed filmmaker Karan Johar, international superstar Nora Fatehi, and Bollywood’s dancing queen Madhuri Dixit Nene. The contestants of the show left no stone unturned to keep the viewers glued to their television screens. Numerous special acts themed on inspiring content were performed right from the premiere to the finale.

The two shows, Sasural Simar Ka 2 and Udaariyaan which launched in 2021, kept the viewers hooked to their TV screens with some interesting twists and turns and both the shows continued to reign over.

With the dawn of the New Year and new beginnings, COLORS is ready to uphold its pledge to deliver to audiences’ content they will love and enjoy. In 2023, COLORS' upcoming fiction show ‘Agnisakshi… Ek Samjhauta’ is a spell binding love story that begins with the divorce on the day of the marriage. Aashey Mishra and Shivika Pathak respectively play the leads in this exciting show. In a different light is ‘Junooniyatt’ which revolves around the musical journey of three aspiring musicians as they discover themselves and fall in love. The channel’s upcoming fantasy fiction show Ishq Me Ghayal is premised on a passionate love triangle between two werewolves, a girl, and the person she ultimately chooses. The show features the extremely popular actors Karan Kundra, Gashmeer Mahajani, and Reem Shaikh. With these exciting shows on the channel’s content slate, 2023 appears promising on the front of entertainment!
