Punjab News/3,50,020 children below the age of 5 years administered pulse polio drops

Chandigarh, November 24, 2013: 3,50,020 children below the age of 5 years were administered pulse polio drops today on the first day of the sub national immunisation day for eradication of polio in Punjab state.

This was revealed here today by Surjit Kumar Jyani, Health Minister, Punjab. He said during this special pulse polio drive aimed at covering ‘high risk’ populations of Punjab 7878 teams of health workers and volunteers have been constituted, which shall be supervised by 788 supervisors.

The campaign will be carried for 3 days in all districts of Punjab, except for Ludhiana and Ajitgarh, where it will be held for 5 days. Health Minister stated that the total target of high risk population to be covered during the campaign is 984722 children.
