PUNJAB CM EXPRESSES SHOCK & GRIEF AT SUDDEN DEATH OF HIS POLITICAL SECY KARAN SEKHON
CHANDIGARH, NOVEMBER 17, 2018: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has expressed shock and grief at the sudden death of his political secretary Karanpal Singh Sekhon, who passed away last night at Aswan Military Hospital, Aswan in Egypt. Sekhon (62), who died of cardiac arrest, is survived by his son and a daughter. The Chief Minister described the death of Sekhon, who had been closely associated with him for a long time with the two families also sharing close ties for at least four generations, as a huge personal loss. Captain Amarinder Singh said he would deeply miss Sekhon’s strength and tireless service to him and the Congress party in Punjab. In a tweet the Chief Minister said, “Very saddened to hear about the demise of my dear friend Karanpal Singh Sekhon. He suffered a sudden heart attack during a family trip to Egypt. RIP my friend. You will be missed”. The Chief Minister extended his sympathies to the bereaved family, saying he hoped they would have the courage to bear their loss. May Sekhon’s soul rest in peace, he added. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister’s Media Advisor Raveen Thukral also mourned the death of Karanpal Singh Sekhon, terming it as ‘extremely shocking and unfortunate’. Thukral said he had known Sekhon as an immensely loyal friend and a fine human being. Brahm Mohinhdra condoles the demise of Karanpal Sekhon Chandigarh: Mr. Brahm Mohinhdra, Health and Family Welfare Minister has expressed heartfelt condolences on the tragic and untimely demise of Mr. Karanpal Singh Sekhon, Political Advisor of the Chief Minister Punjab. Sharing the grief with the members of the bereaved family, Mr. Brahm Mohinhdra termed the demise of Karanpal Sekhon as his personal loss. He said that Mr. Sekhon was a polite and hospitable person who always remained ready to do any work entrusted upon him by the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. He said he was one of the members of the core committee who worked day and night to bring Congress Party at the helms of affairs in Punjab. Mr. Brahm Mohinhdra also prayed to the Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to the family members to bear this irreparable loss.
