Chandigarh, November 3, 2015: The Punjab Government today issued directions to district administrations of the state to appeal to the general public to use the fireworks responsibly and with utmost restraint as per Apex court guidelines.
The state government also issued directions to, Education Department and Higher Education Department to strictly implement the directions of Supreme Court of India regarding educating the public about the ill effects of fireworks thorough various means available to them.
According to an official spokesperson directions have been issued to all districts and department to use all means to educate the public about the ill effects of fireworks and crackers. They have been told to organise group discussions, seminars, exhibitions, street plays to generate awareness amongst general public.
The Education Department and Higher Education Department have been issued directions to issue advisory to all schools and colleges to encourage teachers to educate students not to buy or use fireworks. The spokesperson said that it was imperative for all of us to join hands in this noble drive to save pollution of environment by fireworks and crackers and every section of the society should join hands in this venture.
