PU Rolls Out Digitally Encrypted Parking Stickers for Students
Panjab University, Chandigarh today launched of its new-generation secure parking stickers for Day scholar students, for the academic session 2025–2026. The parking stickers were officially launched by the PU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Renu Vig in the presence of Dean Student Welfare Prof. Amit Chauhan, DSW(W) Prof. Namita Gupta, ADSW Prof. Naresh Kumar, Director Public Relations Dr. Vineet Punia, Chief of University Security Sh. Vikram Singh and some students, who received the stickers.

Chandigarh, 6 August 2025: Panjab University, Chandigarh today launched of its new-generation secure parking stickers for Day scholar students, for the academic session 2025–2026. The parking stickers were officially launched by the PU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Renu Vig in the presence of Dean Student Welfare Prof. Amit Chauhan, DSW(W) Prof. Namita Gupta, ADSW Prof. Naresh Kumar, Director Public Relations Dr. Vineet Punia, Chief of University Security Sh. Vikram Singh and some students, who received the stickers.
The advanced stickers are embedded with a QR code for digital verification, a tamper-proof hologram, and a unique encrypted symbol to prevent misuse and duplication. The QR codes were securely generated in-house by students of the Computer Science & Engineering Department, UIET, who were appointed under the Earn-while-Learn scheme, by the DSW office, showcasing the university’s commitment to promoting student engagement in real-time applications and skill-building. This unique initiative was coordinated by Dr Jaspreet Kaur, Dept. of Botany.
The stickers are printed on a high-quality reflective surface, ensuring better visibility during both day and night, and enhancing overall security. Student data for sticker issuance is being collected through the PU MIS portal, enabling a centralised, transparent, secure, and efficient application process. This initiative is aimed to regulate vehicular movement, strengthen campus security, and implement a modern, technology-driven access control system. Stickers will be issued to eligible day scholar students.
Applicants need to register through the PUMIS portal and validate it through the chairperson. After the completion of the Sticker distribution drive, vehicles without valid stickers will not be allowed entry into the campus. Misuse, tampering, or unauthorized transfer of stickers will attract strict disciplinary action.
