PU International Students Visited Shivalik Fossil Park on National Science Day
On the occasion of National Science Day, the Office of the Dean International Students, Panjab University, organised a one-day educational and excursion trip to Shivalik Fossil Park, Suketi, Himachal Pradesh, for international students studying in various departments of the University.
Chandigarh, March 2, 2026: On the occasion of National Science Day, the Office of the Dean International Students, Panjab University, organised a one-day educational and excursion trip to Shivalik Fossil Park, Suketi, Himachal Pradesh, for international students studying in various departments of the University.
Shivalik Fossil Park, located in the Shivalik Hills, is a significant geological and paleontological site known for its rich fossil heritage. During the visit, students explored the fossil displays and gained valuable insights into prehistoric fauna, flora, and the evolutionary history of species in the Shivalik region. The educational tour provided an enriching academic experience, complementing their classroom learning with practical exposure to India’s geological heritage.
The international students enthusiastically participated in the trip. The visit also served as a platform for cultural exchange, interaction, and strengthening bonds among students from diverse countries and academic disciplines. Such initiatives contribute to the holistic development and well-being of international students at the University.
Prof. Kewal Krishan, Dean International Students, accompanied the students along with staff members of the DIS Office to ensure smooth coordination and proper supervision throughout the visit. The trip was organised with the objective of promoting scientific awareness and fostering a global learning environment at Panjab University. The participants expressed appreciation for the University’s efforts in providing meaningful academic and cultural experiences beyond the classroom.
