Chandigarh, January 23, 2015: Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh would host National Theatre Conference from January 29 to 31. Chandigarh MP and the PU Department of Indian Theatre Alumna Kirron Kher would inaugurate the Conference being organised on the topic of ‘Bridging the Gap: Theatre of Roots and Modern Sensibilities’.
The prestigious National Theatre Conference is being organised by Department of Indian Theatre to channelise various sensibilities in today’s youth through Indian Folk Theatre. PU Dean University Instructions is the Patron and Dr Navdeep Kaur is the Convener cum Organising Secretary.
The Department has started its preparations for the conference. The students are themselves making masks, bells and other decorative materials.  
Dr Navdeep Kaur informed that the purpose of this conference is to make aware to our elite and intellectuals, especially the younger generation of the biggest ever
challenges regarding deteriorating human values of our society. It is a known fact that our multi-cultural social system appears to be on a cross road where many significant and pertinent issues put our society on a big test. Our society has turned into the mix of thoughts, culture and tradition and no solution is visible in present day circumstances. 
January 25 is the last date for submitting abstracts. Abstracts are to be sent through Email  ‘[email protected]’. 
The proceedings of the Conference would be brought out with ISBN. Abstracts should not exceed 300 words and full papers should not exceed 3,000 words and shall be in Times New Roman 12 font size with double spacing for English and for Hindi it shall be in Mughal 16 font size./(SK Vyas/Jalandhar)
