PU DCSA Students Win First Prize at National Hackathon, Awarded Rs. 31,000
Four students from the Department of Computer Science and Applications (DCSA), Panjab University (PU), secured first prize at the national-level hackathon SSH-01 and were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 31,000.
Chandigarh, April 17, 2026: Four students from the Department of Computer Science and Applications (DCSA), Panjab University (PU), secured first prize at the national-level hackathon SSH-01 and were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 31,000.
The winning team comprises Faiz Alam, Faham, Ronak Sood, and Kashish Arora from MCA 1st Year (Evening).
The hackathon was organised by Satyaansh Softech Pvt. Ltd. in association with PIET, with participation from over 100 teams across the country. Competing in a highly competitive environment, the DCSA team demonstrated sustained problem-solving ability and technical competence under strict time constraints, working continuously to develop and refine their solution.
The team’s project integrated multiple advanced components, including augmented reality (AR), a recommendation system, multi-layered artificial intelligence frameworks, customer journey analytics, demand forecasting with inventory optimisation, and revenue leakage detection with trade promotion optimisation. The solution was noted for its layered architecture and practical applicability.
Despite strong competition from institutions with a record of success at national events, including prior wins at the Smart India Hackathon in 2024 and 2025, the PU team secured the top position.
DCSA Chairperson, Dr. Anuj Sharma congratulated the students on their achievement, noting that the outcome reflects sustained academic and technical training within the department.
