Kapurthala, September 28, 2026: Pushpa Gujral Science City celebrated Green Consumer Day by organizing a project model display competition on the theme “Zero Waste Challenges.” The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 100 students who presented innovative project models highlighting practical and creative solutions for reducing waste and promoting sustainable living. The theme of this year’s celebration, “Sustainable Consumption, Recycling and Reducing Waste,” focused on encouraging responsible consumption practices, promoting eco-friendly products, minimizing unnecessary packaging and strengthening the culture of reuse and recycling.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajesh Grover, Director, Pushpa Gujral Science City emphasized that achieving the goal of zero waste requires collective responsibility, scientific innovation and sustained public participation. He urged students and young people to adopt responsible consumption, waste segregation, reuse and recycling as everyday practices. He highlighted that science and technology can provide effective solutions for waste management but lasting change is possible only when technological interventions are supported by behavioural change and community participation.
Dr. Munish Soin, Deputy Director and Programme Coordinator delivered the vote of thanks. He called upon all stakeholders to work together towards a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable future reaffirming that every individual action can contribute meaningfully to the larger goal of a zero-waste society.
Results of the Project Model Competition : The first prize was won by a team from Guru Amardass Public School, Ucha Bet, Kapurthala. The team from Akal Academy, Kapurthala secured the second position, while Anand Public School, Kapurthala secured the third position.
