Prominent Scholars Emphasise Core Human Values at KMV’s Faculty Development Program

Jalandhar, July 17, 2026: Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous), a premier heritage institution celebrating 140 glorious years of academic excellence, successfully organised a highly impactful Faculty Development Program on "Inclusion of Value System in Education."
The prestigious event featured insightful addresses from distinguished scholars Padma Shri Awardee  Dr. Sukama Acharya and Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Arya, Department of Sanskrit & Indic Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. The program aimed to re-align modern educational practices with deep-rooted moral, ethical, and human values.
Welcoming the eminent guests, Director Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi delivered a resonant inaugural address, emphasising that education void of values is incomplete. She stated that as a heritage institution, KMV has always prioritised holistic development, ensuring that academic excellence goes hand-in-hand with character building. Prof. Dwivedi reiterated that in the contemporary digital era, the responsibility of educators to instil strong ethical foundations, empathy, and social responsibility in students has doubled, making value-based pedagogy the need of the hour.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) Sudhir Arya highlighted the monumental role of women in shaping society, stating that the value of a mother is absolutely phenomenal in building the foundation of a child's character. He lauded the historic contribution of KMV in pioneering women's emancipation and empowerment since its inception in 1886. Dr. Arya emphasised that the KMV’s founding fathers were visionary leaders whose legacy continues to guide and uplift women through value-based higher education. In her profoundly inspiring address, Acharya Sukama elaborated on the deep spiritual and psychological roots of learning, noting that true education begins long before birth, right inside the mother’s womb. She detailed the profound significance of Swami Dayanand Saraswati’s ideology, explaining how his vision beautifully bridges modern education with timeless human values. Motivating the attendees, Acharya Sukama urged everyone to consciously acquire positive traits and reject negativity, reminding the audience that every single human being is uniquely crafted and special. The speakers collectively concluded that maintaining balance is the single most important pursuit in life, advocating for a simple, disciplined, and balanced lifestyle. They emphasised that true fulfilment and mental peace can only be achieved when one learns to master and control their senses.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks, leaving the faculty deeply inspired to integrate these profound values into their daily teaching methodologies. Prof. Dwivedi lauded the efforts of Dr. Madhumeet, Head, PG Department of English for successfully organising the FDP. Dr AnandPrabha conducted the stage immaculately.
