Chandigarh, July 24, 2026: Department of Botany, Panjab University today organised 12th Professor Shiv Ram Kashyap Oration Award lecture at the department.
Eminent scientist and former Vice Chancellor Amity University Punjab, Mohali, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda and DAV University, Jalandhar, Prof. Ravinder Kumar Kohli, was conferred upon 12th Professor Shiv Ram Kashyap Oration Award on the occasion. This award is conferred on the renowned scientists of the country every year.
The Oration lecture was chaired by Prof. Y.P. Verma, Registrar, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
In this oration award lecture, Prof. Kohli discussed about the “India’s Science Research Potential: Status, Limitations, Opportunities & Future Prospects in Plant Science” at length. He highlighted about the past, present and future prospects of sciences with special reference to plant sciences.
Prof. Kohli has made significant contributions in Allelopathic Interplant Interactions, Invasion Ecology, and Ecological Weed Management among others.
Earlier, Chairperson, Department of Botany Prof. M.C. Sidhu briefed about the award that has been instituted in the revered memory of an eminent Botanist Prof. Shiv Ram Kashyap (an alumnus of the Botany Department) through a lecture corpus nucleated by his daughter (Late Kamini Kaushal), a famous actress, and supported by the Department of Botany.
The lecture was attended by the students, research scholars & faculty of the Department.
