The event, themed "Historical Monuments of Punjab with Special Reference to Saragarhi," brought together scholars and experts to delve into the rich historical legacy of Punjab.

Jalandhar, February 16, 2024: In a significant academic endeavor, the Department of Punjabi of Prem Chand Markanda S.D. College for Women,Jalandhar  in collaboration with the Department of History, organized an International Conference. The event, themed "Historical Monuments of Punjab with Special Reference to Saragarhi," brought together scholars and experts to delve into the rich historical legacy of Punjab.

The event commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and invoking the blessings of the Almighty.

After which floral welcome was offered to the dignitaries by Principal Prof.Dr.Pooja Prashar.The worthy   Principal  welcomed  the guests and gave a brief description about the Institution setting the tone for the insightful discussions to follow.

The Keynote Address was delivered by Dr. Gurinderpal Singh Josan, Founder President of Sikhs in America and Chairman of the Saragarhi Foundation. His address provided valuable perspectives on the historical significance of Saragarhi and its relevance in today's context.He also highlighted the significant role of Sikhs in preserving and safeguarding Sikh history. 

The Technical Session I witnessed a thought-provoking address by Chief Guest Dr. Madhu Prashar, a Former Principal and National and State awardee, illuminated the audience with profound insights into the historical monuments of Punjab. Drawing from her wealth of experience, Dr. Prashar intricately connected the past with the present, unraveling the layers of significance embedded in Punjab's rich heritage. Her words not only educated but inspired, fostering a deep appreciation for the cultural tapestry that defines the region.

The session further featured esteemed resource persons. Harjit Singh Sodhi from the USA, President of Mission Baba Nanak was the first resource person.He  discussed the essence of Guru Nanak's mission, emphasizing the importance of three pillars of the Sikh way of life Naam Japo, Kirat Karo and Vand Chhako.

The second resource person  Prof. Harpinder Kaur from Brampton, Canada shed light on the historical significance of Punjab, emphasizing the profound contributions and teachings of Sikh Gurus.

Our next resource person, Dr. Surinder Narula, Renowned Punjabi Writer, contributed valuable perspectives on the conference theme, enriching the scholarly exchange.She also elaborated on various idioms featured in her book, each conveying profound life experiences.

Technical Session-II included a special ceremony for releasing a books by Dr. Gurpinderpal Singh Josan's 'Chandni Chowk da Saheed' and 'Mission Saragarhi,' along with Surinder Narula's 'Punjabi Akhaan Sarchana ta Sachaar Vidaan were released. After that mementoes were given to the guests.

Kawaljit Kaur, Head of the Department of History, extended a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all participants and contributors.Dr.Anju Bala, Department of Punjabi handled the stage effectively.

The  Conference  proved to be a platform for scholarly exchange, promoting a deeper understanding of Punjab's historical monuments. 

President Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Vinod Dada, the  members of the Managing Committee and the Principal congratulated the organizing departments for the successful execution of the event.
