Chandigarh, March 5, 2026: In a compelling synthesis of artistic brilliance and academic advocacy, the National Education Policy (NEP) Cell, Panjab University, in collaboration with the Centre for Human Rights and Duties (CHRD), today organised a Poster Making Competition.
Centered on the pivotal theme, ‘NEP 2020: Inclusion & Empowerment,’ the event served as a high-octane platform for students to interpret the transformative vision of the National Education Policy through the lens of social equity and pedagogical reform. The proceedings commenced with an evocative inaugural address that set a tone of intellectual rigor and creative fervor. The competition saw the spirited participation of 21 contestants representing diverse departments of Panjab University and various affiliated colleges across Chandigarh.
The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Anil Monga, NEP Coordinator, and Dr. Upneet Kaur Mangat, Chairperson of the Centre for Human Rights and Duties, both of whom lauded the participants for their high spirits and conceptual depth.
In a stirring address, Prof. Anil Monga emphasised the University’s multi-faceted initiatives under the NEP 2020 framework, specifically highlighting the role of students as the primary ‘driving force’ and the very ‘ethos’ of the institution’s progress. He encouraged the gathered scholars to deepen their engagement by joining the NEP Cell in the upcoming session, reinforcing the idea that student-led advocacy is the vanguard of educational evolution.
Dr. Upneet Kaur Mangat echoed these sentiments, sensitizing the audience to the critical intersection of human rights and inclusive education as envisioned in the new policy.
Participants were provided with drawing sheets and given 45 minutes to manifest their original concepts, utilizing their own tools to bring the theme to life.
To incentivize the pursuit of excellence, the competition awarded significant cash prizes, with the First Prize of Rs.1100 being secured by Gulistan Parveen from the Department of Political Science, Panjab University. The Second Prize of Rs. 800 was conferred upon Ranju Thandaik from the Department of Laws, Panjab University, while the Third Prize of Rs. 500 was awarded to Kanav Khurana, a student of B.A. at PGGC-11, Chandigarh. Furthermore, in recognition of the power of collaborative thinking, Consolation Prizes were presented to two exceptional teams who demonstrated remarkable synergy: Nancy and Priyajit from the Centre for Human Rights and Duties, and Piyush Kharayat and Sanya Gupta from the University Business School (UBS), Panjab University.
The seamless execution of the event was a testament to the meticulous planning of the NEP Saarthis, the dedicated student wing of the NEP Cell. From the initial welcome to the final distribution of prizes, the Saarthis displayed a profound commitment to fostering an inclusive academic environment. As the event concluded, the echoes of Nelson Mandela’s wisdom—that "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world"—resonated deeply, leaving the participants and faculty inspired to continue their journey toward an equitable educational future.
