Chandigarh, November 17, 2023: University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development in collaboration with Institute Innovation Council, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Khadi and Village Industries Commission, marked National Entrepreneurship Day by hosting a PMEGP (Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme) awareness camp. 

Dr. Anu H. Gupta, Chairperson UIFT & VD, welcomed the speakers and mentioned that such support provided to young budding designers and entrepreneurs can contribute in a big way in shaping their career. The event was attended by around 35 Fashion Technology students.

During the session, Jagdeep Singh Dull, Assistant Director of KVIC, and Sukhwinder Singh, KVIC marketing specialist, spoke to attendees about the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme. The session emphasised the relevance of Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) training modules in providing participants with vital business skills. Greetings, Saini from KVIC contributed as well with the workshop.

The participants were enlightened about the government' initiatives for  supporting individuals above the age of 18 by offering loans with subsidies for up to 3 years, fostering the initiation of their businesses. It was further elaborated that how KVIC plays a pivotal role in transforming dreams into reality, providing loans with a 10% beneficiary contribution and subsidies of 15% in urban areas and up to 25% in rural sectors. The speakers talked about special provisions that exist for minorities, women, etc. The accessible online application process was highlighted, along with a discussion on the negative list of activities and the variety of businesses eligible for the scheme.

As the workshop concluded, inspiring success stories, such as Jitendra Kumar's, showcased the scheme's positive impact. The government, in collaboration with KVIC, aims to empower and equip us for successful ventures in India. The speakers responded effectively to the participants' questions.
