Grewal told that at Malda Town Railway Station the flagging off of India’s first fully air conditioned Vande Bharat Sleeper Train between Howrah and Guwahati Kamakhya is a transformational step for long distance rail travel in India. This modern airline like yet affordable travel experience will reduce travel time by nearly 2.5 hours and will significantly boost tourism pilgrimage and connectivity with the North Eastern region.

He said that the dedication and foundation laying of rail and road projects worth over ₹3250 crore in Malda will further strengthen West Bengal and the North East as important growth engines of New India. New rail lines freight facilities electrification LHB coach services and Amrit Bharat trains will directly benefit students workers traders farmers and youth by providing faster safer and cleaner connectivity.

Grewal further said that the flagging off of seven Amrit Bharat Express trains and new services connecting New Jalpaiguri Alipurduar Balurghat and Radhikapur with Bengaluru Mumbai Nagercoil Tiruchirappalli Banaras and Delhi reflects the Government’s deep concern for the convenience of the common citizen.

He said that in Hooghly at Singur development projects worth ₹830 crore once again highlight the Prime Minister’s development driven and people centric leadership. The foundation stone of the Extended Port Gate System at Balagarh along with the Inland Water Transport terminal and ROB will revolutionise logistics reduce congestion lower pollution and generate large scale employment opportunities for MSMEs farmers and local communities.

Grewal told that the launch of an indigenous Electric Catamaran highlights India’s growing focus on green mobility eco tourism and clean rivers. The inauguration of new rail lines and Amrit Bharat trains from Howrah Sealdah and Santragachi will further strengthen daily commuting pilgrimage and economic mobility across the region.
