Mumbai (Anil Bedag), Septeber 21, 2026: The Mount Mary Fair 2026 in Bandra, Mumbai, witnessed not only faith and community participation but also a strong message of environmental conservation. Under the GreenSweep initiative, supported by Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), BMC and Sangam Pratishthan, efforts are being made to promote the responsible collection and recycling of used PET bottles.
More than 20 volunteers have been deployed at key locations across the fair to guide devotees and visitors towards designated collection points and encourage waste segregation at source. The collected PET bottles are being channelled through authorised recycling mechanisms.
The initiative goes beyond collection activities. Through street plays and awareness performances in Marathi and Hindi, the message of environmental conservation is being communicated to visitors in a simple and engaging manner.
Komal Ghag Nadar, Secretary, Sangam Pratishthan, said, “The Mount Mary Fair brings together people from different communities. Through GreenSweep, our endeavour is to promote the responsible collection and recycling of PET bottles through community participation, volunteers and awareness activities.”
The campaign also builds on HCCB’s ongoing collaboration with the Maharashtra Government’s Department of Environment and Climate Change and the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) under the Maha r-PET Abhiyaan.
