PGIMS Rohtak gets Four New Blood Gas Analyzer Machines - New equipment to further strengthen critical care services, says Vice-Chancellor Dr. Aggarwal
Pt. Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS), Rohtak, has installed four new state-of-the-art Blood Gas Analyzer (BGA) machines in the Trauma ICU, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) Department, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and Modular ICU of PGIMS, Rohtak.

Bhagwat Dayal Sharma University of Health Sciences (UHS), Rohtak, has installed four new state-of-the-art Blood Gas Analyzer (BGA) machines in the Trauma ICU, Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) Department, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and Modular ICU of PGIMS, Rohtak.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. H.K. Aggarwal said the addition of these advanced machines would significantly enhance critical care services and play a crucial role in saving the lives of critically ill patients. He said that all four machines are fully operational. He explained that a Blood Gas Analyzer can determine vital parameters from just a few drops of arterial blood, including oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, acid-base balance, and essential electrolytes such as sodium, potassium, and calcium. Earlier, blood samples had to be sent to a laboratory for analysis, resulting in delays in obtaining reports.
The Vice-Chancellor said the institute remains committed to providing even the poorest patients with healthcare facilities comparable to those available at the country's leading corporate hospitals. He added that PGIMS, Rohtak, aims to emerge as the largest critical care centre in North India in the coming years.
Registrar Dr. Roop Singh said that a single BGA test costs between ₹800 and ₹1,500 in private hospitals. Critically ill ICU patients often require the test three to four times a day, pushing the daily expenditure to nearly ₹5,000. Keeping the financial burden on poor and middle-class families in mind, PGIMS will provide this life-saving diagnostic facility completely free of cost to all emergency and ICU patients.
Public Relations Department In-charge Dr. Manjunath described the Blood Gas Analyzer as a life-saving device that enables doctors to make immediate and accurate treatment decisions for critically ill patients.
