PCTE Celebrates India’s Rice Heritage with 300+ Dishes on World Tourism Day

The Faculty of Hotel Management and Tourism at PCTE Group of Institutes marked World Tourism Day in a unique way, presenting “Ānnameva Jayete – Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,” a grand celebration featuring over 300+ rice-based dishes from every corner of India.

Ludhiana, September 26, 2025: The Faculty of Hotel Management and Tourism at PCTE Group of Institutes marked World Tourism Day in a unique way, presenting “Ānnameva Jayete – Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,” a grand celebration featuring over 300+ rice-based dishes from every corner of India.

The event highlighted rice as a pillar of Indian civilization for more than 8,000 years, tracing its journey from Vedic rituals to contemporary kitchens. Students showcased an extraordinary spread representing regional diversity, ranging from Khichdi, Tehri, Pongal, and Payasam to a variety of Biryani and Pulao preparations.

The celebration was graced by culinary luminaries and social figures. Chef Sanjiv, President of the Indian Federation of Culinary Associations (IFCA).The gathering also honoured eminent chefs including Chef Manjit Singh Gill, Chef Gunjan Goela, Chef Rajesh Kumar, Chef Jay Bhasin, Chef Satyendra Kumar, and Chef Nandlal Sharma, President of the Chef Association of Himachal Pradesh.

Distinguished guests included Mr. Ravi Bachchan, Col. Pandey, Commanding Officer, and principals from schools across Punjab, emphasizing the importance of nurturing cultural pride among youth.

The celebration was a feast for all senses. Students of Tourism and Travel Management conducted a colourful cultural ramp walk, showcasing traditional attire from across India, while. Faculty members also highlighted the historical significance of rice in India, noting references in the Rigveda, emphasizing that India’s rich rice culture predates and often outshines later foreign influences.

“Rice is more than just food in India it is identity, heritage, and continuity. Through this event, our students revived and celebrated the culinary truths of our civilization for the world to see.” said Mr. Anirban Gupta, Dean, Faculty of Hotel Management, PCTE.

Through this celebration, PCTE not only showcased culinary excellence but also reaffirmed its commitment to preserving India’s timeless heritage, reminding everyone that in India, truly, “Food Alone Triumphs.”
