PAU and DMCH collaborate to release informative CPR Video

Ludhiana, January 28, 2025: Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, and Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) unveiled a short video on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at the PAU campus. The launch event was graced by Dr. Bishav Mohan, Professor and Head of Cardiology, DMCH, along with his team; Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU; Dr. Rishi Pal Singh (IAS), Registrar, PAU; and other university officers. The video, approximately three minutes in duration, is a product of the two institutions' collaborative efforts to spread awareness about CPR.

Highlighting the importance of CPR, Dr. Bishav Mohan explained that it is a critical emergency procedure performed when the heart stops beating. He emphasized that timely and correctly performed CPR can significantly enhance the chances of survival in cardiac arrest cases. “Our goal is not only to provide medical care but also to empower the community with life-saving knowledge. Initiatives like this video can instill confidence in handling medical emergencies,” he remarked. He stressed the growing need for public awareness about CPR due to the rising prevalence of heart-related issues.

Dr. Satbir Singh Gosal appreciated the video's clarity and accessibility. He noted, “This short video delivers concise and practical guidance on handling cardiac arrest situations without any medical equipment until professional help arrives. By presenting it in the local language, the video ensures that everyone, including the layperson, can easily understand it.” Dr. Gosal commended the meticulous efforts involved in scripting, directing, acting, and producing the video. He suggested wider circulation of the video using various social media platforms.

Dr. Rishi Pal Singh underlined the importance of CPR training, stating that such techniques can be crucial in saving lives during cardiac emergencies. “The video effectively demonstrates chest compressions, an artificial method to maintain blood flow to vital organs when the heart ceases to function properly,” he said. He encouraged everyone to learn and practice such life-saving skills.

This collaborative initiative reflects PAU and DMCH’s commitment to enhancing community health education and ensuring preparedness for medical emergencies.
