PAU Alumna secures Ph.D admission in US Varsity

Mehakpreet Kaur, an M.Sc. student (2020-2022) of the Department of Entomology and a PAU alumna, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has secured Ph.D. admission in Entomology at the North Dakota State University (NDSU), USA.

Ludhiana, July 24, 2023: Mehakpreet Kaur, an M.Sc. student (2020-2022) of the Department of Entomology and a PAU alumna, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has secured Ph.D. admission in Entomology at the North Dakota State University (NDSU), USA. She will be working in the discipline of melittology to highlight the molecular pathways governing diapause in Alfalfa leafcutter bee. She will carry out research under the guidance of Dr Julia Bowsher, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Biological Sciences at NDSU. The NDSU has awarded a full fee waiver to Ms Mehakpreet, besides a scholarship. She will join her doctorate in August 2023.

At PAU, Mehakpreet’s work on Bees' diversity in the Punjab under the guidance of Dr Amit Choudhary provided her a strong technical base in the field of melittology. She has further enriched her scientific knowledge in the field of apiculture by interacting with the other learned members of the Apiculture unit comprising Dr PK Chhuneja, Dr Jaspal Singh and Dr Bharathi Mohindru who have helped her in achieving her mission of securing doctorate position in USA in her imbibed expertise in melittology.
