Chandigarh, July 16, 2022: Panjab University, Chandigarh jointly with University of Delhi (Faculty of Laws) and Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur has organised a Full Time Residential Summer School from 15th July to 21st July, 2022. The summer school received residents from pan India with 10 students from Maharashtra including Pune, Mumbai & Nagpur, 10 students from Delhi, few students from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh & Ladakh, few more from Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab including Amritsar making up to total of 80 participants along with 20 volunteers from NSS and NCC. This unique summer school was inaugurated by Prof. Raj Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University Chandigarh. The summer school began with an inaugural session at Seminar Hall, Dept. of Youth Welfare where Dr. Rohit Kumar Sharma, Director Youth Welfare, convener of resident school gave a warm welcome to everyone present and explain purpose of this event.
Prof. (Dr.) Devinder Singh, Chairperson, Dept. of Laws then shared with residents’ importance of such events in holistic development of a student. He then introduced the Chief Guest of event Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raj Kumar, Panjab University and Guest of Honor Prof. Anupama Sharma, Dean Alumni Relations. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor appreciated the new initiative taken by Prof. Devinder Singh, Chairperson, Department of Laws, P.U in association with Prof. Usha Tandon, Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Delhi and Prof. Himanshu Pandey, MNLU, Nagpur. He stressed upon the form of teaching where focus is majorly on learning and mentioned that resident school like this help in developing a feeling of belongingness, healthy association and meaningful interaction. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor then interacted with individual residents and instil in them faith and confidence and asked them to explore university beautiful campus during their stay.

The session concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Department of Laws, P.U who expressed heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor for all his good self’s support and guidance, Director, Department of Youth Welfare for coordinating this event, Coordinator NSS & NCC for managing and regulating affairs, Directorate of Sports, Dean College Development Council and Dean Alumni Relations for all logistics and support.
