Panjab University Hosts Special Lecture on Partitioned Memories and Digital Documentation
Chandigarh, January 15, 2026: The Department of History, Panjab University, recently hosted a special lecture on "Partitioned Memories: Documenting Anniversaries Through Digital Technologies," featuring Professor Pippa Virdee from the University of Warwick, Conentry, UK.The event began with a warm welcome, where Dr. Jasbir Singh, Chairperson of the Department of History, highlighted the Researcher Society and History Society's initiatives, followed by an introduction to Professor Virdee's remarkable work.
Professor Virdee delivered an insightful discourse on India's partition, exploring diverse historical perspectives, including the subaltern approach. The lecture sparked a lively and thought-provoking discussion with the audience.Prof. Priyatosh Sharma proposed a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to Professor Virdee, the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Jasbir Singh, Dr Ashish Kumar and the attendees. The event drew around 100 participants from various departments, including students, research scholars, and faculty members.
