Orientation Program for B.Sc. Students at UIFT & VD Commenced at Panjab University
The University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development (UIFT & VD), Panjab University, conducted a two-day orientation programme for its incoming B.Sc. students on 4 and 5 August 2025.

Chandigarh, August 5, 2025: The University Institute of Fashion Technology & Vocational Development (UIFT & VD), Panjab University, conducted a two-day orientation programme for its incoming B.Sc. students on 4 and 5 August 2025.
The orientation programme was aimed to familiarise the freshers with the academic environment, institutional culture, faculty members, and career prospects in the field of fashion and vocational development. Designed to provide both academic insight and creative engagement, the orientation opened with a welcome address by Professor Brar, who introduced the students to the department’s core faculty.
The sessions were convened by Dr Ramandeep Bawa and co-ordinated by senior students Juli Verma and Arshdeep Kaur.
The first day featured academic sessions by Dr Harleen Kaur on ‘Fashion and Culture’, Dr Ramandeep Bawa on ‘Fashion Industries and Career Opportunities’, and Ms Arushi on ‘Fashion Terminologies’. A creative hands-on workshop on the basics of crocheting, led by Ms Mitali, concluded the day and offered students a practical introduction to design craft.
Day two began with an inspiring session by Professor Parveen Goyal, Programme Coordinator, NSS, on ‘Value Education through NSS’, co-ordinated by senior faculty member Dr Anu H. Gupta. Additional insights on NSS programming were shared by Dr Sonia Sharma. The second day also featured a cultural performance by third-semester students, reflecting the vibrant and inclusive spirit of UIFT & VD.
Academic enrichment continued with a lecture by Dr Avanish on the importance of research and statistics, followed by an industry-oriented motivational talk by alumna Ms Mohini Marwaha. The programme concluded with a guided campus tour of the University Library and Museum, led by faculty members Ms Deepa, Ms Akansha, and Ms Kulbir, helping students become acquainted with the university's key facilities and resources.
The orientation programme was curated to ensure that new students feel welcomed, well-informed, and confident as they embark on their academic journey. It also aimed to introduce institutional rules, regulations, and academic standards while fostering a strong sense of belonging within the UIFT & VD community.
