One Year Horticultural Supervisor Training Course Concluded At PAU

Ludhiana, August 27, 2015: To encourage horticulture cultivation, a training programme was organized for the 10+2 pass youth. Dr.R.S.Sidhu, Director of Extension Education was the Chief Guest on the occasion. As many as 20 participants attended the course. In his remarks, Dr.Sidhu said horticultural crops offer a viable option for crop diversification. “Technical guidance is vital for the successful cultivation of horticultural crops”, he added. He urged the trainees to remain in touch with PAU experts for expertise on agriculture and allied fields.

Dr. M. S. Dhaliwal, Additional Director of Research and Head, Department of Vegetable Science, said that PAU has always been promoting horticulture cultivation among the farmers. He called upon the trainees to follow PAU recommendations for reaping maxi mum benefit.

Dr. Manavinder Singh Gill, Head, Department of Horticulture said that University is conducting research on various fruits and vegetables. Besides emphasis is on promoting agro-processing.

Dr. J. S. Sarabha, Course Coordinator said that trainees were educated about nursery raising, seed production techniques, marketing and packaging of food products prepared from fruits and vegetables. Dr. J. S. Brar proposed the vote of thanks.
