NTPC Celebrates its Golden Jubilee, Reflecting on a Legacy of Performance and Purpose
Sheetal Devi felicitated for her exemplary achievements in Para Archery
Chandigarh, November 9, 2025: NTPC Ltd., India’s largest integrated power utility, celebrated its Golden Jubilee at the Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi on Saturday marking over five decades of powering the nation’s growth and advancing India’s clean energy transition.
The event was graced by Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary (Power), Government of India, and Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC Ltd., in the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of Power, Board of Directors of NTPC, and senior representatives of Power Sector CPSEs.
The Chief Guest for the event, Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary (Power), lauded NTPC and said, “NTPC’s journey of over 50 years has been truly exceptional, marked by milestones that have strengthened our nation.”
Referring to innovative techniques such as coal gasification, carbon capture, CO2 to green chemicals etc. being taken up by NTPC, he said “NTPC is the only company which has taken up substantial steps in this direction in the country.”
Addressing the audience, Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC, expressed gratitude to employees and stakeholders for their contribution to NTPC’s success. He said, “In line with India’s ambitious capacity expansion roadmap, we have raised our own targets from 130 GW to 149 GW by 2032 and 244 GW by 2037.”
“From commissioning our first unit at Singrauli to operating across the length and breadth of the country today, our journey has gone hand in hand with India’s growth story", he further added.
One of the key highlights of the event was the felicitation of renowned para archer Sheetal Devi by Pankaj Agarwal and Gurdeep Singh for her remarkable achievements. The occasion also saw the release of NTPC’s CSR Coffee Table Book – ‘Samarthyam’, showcasing the company’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.
A large gathering of employees, family members, and former employees also joined the celebrations, reflecting NTPC’s strong sense of unity and shared purpose. The evening concluded with a soulful live performance by singer Rekha Bhardwaj, adding a memorable musical touch to the event.
