NSS, Panjab University Commemorates Shaheedi Diwas of Guru Arjan Dev Ji with Langar Sewa
The National Service Scheme (NSS), Panjab University, solemnly observed the Shaheedi Diwas (Martyrdom Day) of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, a day marked by remembrance and reflection on the life, teachings, and sacrifice of the fifth Sikh Guru. Around 550 individuals, including patients and their attendants at PGIMER, were served freshly prepared meals as part of the outreach.

Chandigarh, 29 May 2025: The National Service Scheme (NSS), Panjab University, solemnly observed the Shaheedi Diwas (Martyrdom Day) of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, a day marked by remembrance and reflection on the life, teachings, and sacrifice of the fifth Sikh Guru. Around 550 individuals, including patients and their attendants at PGIMER, were served freshly prepared meals as part of the outreach.
To honour the Guru’s unwavering message of compassion, sacrifice, and social equality, a Langar Sewa (community kitchen) was organized at the Gate no. 1 of PU. The event was attended by Prof. Nandita Singh. Speaking on the occasion, she shared a moving story highlighting the great deeds and enduring legacy of Guru Arjan Dev Ji. The Langar was organised by Dr.Parveen Goyal,Programme Coordinator and Dr.Sonia Sharma, Programme Officer. Faculty members, staff, and students participated wholeheartedly in the sewa, reflecting the spirit of unity and selfless service that Guru Arjan Dev Ji stood for.
