He was addressing the students and faculty members on the third day of the seven-day NSS camp going on at DAV PG College, Karnal.

Karnal, February 10, 2026: The National Service Scheme is a powerful medium for developing a spirit of service, discipline, and nation-building among youth. NSS camps connect students with society and inspire them to become responsible citizens. These views were expressed by Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan, Director of the Haryana Institute of Rural Development (HIRD). He was addressing the students and faculty members on the third day of the seven-day NSS camp going on at DAV PG College, Karnal.

 

NSS Program Officers Dr. Poonam Verma, Dr. Balram Sharma, and Dr. Pratibha welcomed Chief Guest Dr. Chauhan with a bouquet of flowers.

 

In his inspirational address, Dr. Virender Singh Chauhan said that the National Service Scheme is not just an activity, but a way of life that develops leadership skills, cooperation, and social sensitivity among youth. NSS volunteers understand society's problems and participate in their solutions.

 

Emphasizing the importance of the Hindi language, HIRD Director Dr. Chauhan said that Hindi is our mother tongue and we should use it as much as possible in our daily lives. He also made the students pledge to sign in Hindi and adopt Hindi in their work.

 

Discussing digital literacy, he said that digital frauds are increasing rapidly these days. Therefore, everyone needs to be vigilant about digital transactions, cybersecurity, and online fraud. He encouraged students to become aware, vigilant, and responsible digital citizens.

 

YRC coordinator Dr. Balram Sharma, Dr. Rekha, Dr. Pratibha Rathi, Dr. Radhika, Dr. Meenu, Dr. Tina, Dr. Priyanka, Dr. Anita, Dr. Rama, Shipra, and other staff members and students were present on the occasion.
