The Department of Information Technology, University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Panjab University, Chandigarh today organised a national workshop on “Generative AI in Action”.
Chandigarh, February 12, 2026: The Department of Information Technology, University Institute of Engineering and Technology, Panjab University, Chandigarh today organised a national workshop on “Generative AI in Action”.
Hitesh Bandhu, Co-founder and CTO, yas.chat, and Founder, Compendia Labs, delivered an engaging and insightful session on the practical implementation of Generative AI. He provided an overview of the evolution of IT technologies and explained how Artificial Intelligence is transforming industries and impacting everyday life.
The session included hands-on training using Cursor AI and a live demonstration on building a Telegram bot integrated with generative capabilities. He also discussed the anatomy of AI, covering concepts such as Large Language Models (LLMs), Transformers, and the research paper “Attention Is All You Need”, explaining how attention mechanisms power modern AI systems.
This event was coordinated by Dr. Raj Kumari, Associate Professor, and Dr. Neelam Goel, Assistant Professor, Department of Information Technology, UIET, Panjab University, Chandigarh, under the guidance of Prof. Sukhwinder Singh, Director, UIET, and Prof. Amandeep Verma, Coordinator, Department of Information Technology, UIET.
The workshop was attended by 70 participants, which included faculty, Ph.D. research scholars and ME/BE students.
