National Startup Day Celebrated at Government Home Science College with Session on Startup Building
Government Home Science College, Chandigarh celebrated National Startup Day by organizing an online awareness- session on Startup building-From passion to Profession- under the aegis of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC). The programme was conducted for undergraduate and postgraduate students with the objective of fostering entrepreneurial thinking and innovation-driven careers.

Chandigarh, January 17, 2026: Government Home Science College, Chandigarh celebrated National Startup Day by organizing an online awareness- session on Startup building-From passion to Profession- under the aegis of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC). The programme was conducted for undergraduate and postgraduate students with the objective of fostering entrepreneurial thinking and innovation-driven careers.
The session provided insights into the startup ecosystem in India, government startup policies, and the essential stages of startup building including idea generation, problem identification, innovation, funding avenues, incubation support, and mentorship. Students were encouraged to explore startup opportunities aligned with their academic disciplines and societal needs.
The interactive session witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 100 students, who actively engaged through discussions and queries.
The session concluded with an encouraging address by the Principal of the College, Prof. Sudha Katyal. She emphasized that awareness and sensitization programmes on innovation and startups are essential for empowering students to explore alternative career opportunities beyond conventional employment. The Principal further remarked that such initiatives help in nurturing creativity, confidence, and leadership skills among students, enabling them to become future-ready, self-reliant, and responsible contributors to society and the nation.
