National Seminar on ‘Geo-Politics, Crisis of Identity, and Literature’ concluded today at Panjab University, Chandigarh. The two-day seminar was organised by the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, in collaboration with the Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi and the Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies, Panjab University.

Chandigarh, December 30, 2025: National Seminar on ‘Geo-Politics, Crisis of Identity, and Literature’ concluded today at Panjab University, Chandigarh. The two-day seminar was organised by the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, in collaboration with the Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi and the Department of Guru Nanak Sikh Studies, Panjab University.

While chairing the valedictory session, PU Dean of University Instruction Prof Yojna Rawat said that in the present global scenario marked by conflicts, migration and rapid historical conditions, questions of identity have become increasingly complex. She added that such academic discussions are essential to critically understand contemporary realities and promote informed and inclusive perspectives. She also shared her personal experiences related to the Assamese, Chinese and Tibetan displacement and identity crisis.

In her valedictory address, Prof Pampa Mukherjee from the Department of Political Science stated that the problem of identity is an age-long issue in human history. She remarked that in the present era of media, social media and academia, questions of identity have assumed global dimensions and increasingly influence the thinking of the masses.

Three academic sessions were held during the seminar, in which theme-oriented research papers were presented by Paramjeet Singh Dhingra, Kuldeep Singh, Parveen Kumar, Kumar Sushil, Vanita, Ravinder Kaur, Tajinder Singh, Sarbjit Singh Mann, Manmohan, Manjinder Singh and Barinder Kaur. The sessions were chaired by Kuldeep Singh, Renuka Singh and Gurpal Singh respectively.

The deliberations covered key issues such as Punjab-related problems, migration, language distinction and crisis, socio-political challenges and gender concerns. A number of scholars and writers, including Dr Deepak Manmohan, Subhash Bhaskar, Parmjit Sidhu, Santosh Dhiman, Ashwani Shandilya, Bhupinder Malik, Jaspal Singh, Nirmal Jaswal, Sardara Singh Cheema, Parmjit Mann, Pal Ajnabi, Ganesh Dutt, Varinder Chattha, Manjit Singh Khehra, Amandeep Singh, Jagtar Singh Jog, Davinder Singh, Parmveer Singh, Veerpal Kaur and Sanjay Kumar, were also present at the seminar.
