More than 150 booked under Arms Act at Makhu Police Station

Ferozepur, November 17, 2014: Five persons besides 150 unidentified persons were booked in the case related to clash between the Dera followers and Sikh groups at village Jogewala last day under 307, .23, 324, 427, 295-A, 148, 149 IPC 25/27, 54/59, Arms Act at Makhu Police station. Those who were identified and booked are Dilbagh Singh, Bittu Singh, Gurlal Singh, Lakhvir Singh, Amrik Singh. Besides, 150 unidentified persons have also been booked by the police.
Earlier, at least nine person were injured including police officials last day at village Jogewala following a clash between the followers of Sirsa based Dera Sacha Sauda and certain sikh organisations including Eknoor Khalsa Fouj. The panic was prevailed when the Dera followers were stopped by the members of Eknoor Khalsa Fouj while they were going towards Mehmoodwala village to perform “Naam Charcha”. After heated arguments, the two groups hurled stones at each other and used sharp edged weapons. Senior police officials including DIG Ferozepur Range Munish Chawla and SSP Sukhwant Singh Gill, alogn with heavy police force reached the spot to pacify the furious crowd.
Meanwhile, the situation remained tense at Jogewala village after yesterday’s incident and heavy police force was deployed to keep a hawk’s eye on the situation. Sikh organisations demanded the cancellation of FIR lodged against the Sikh supporters and said that police should also take action against the Dera followers
