Chandigarh Literary Society (CLS) organised a gala event ‘MomentUs 2024’- a brainchild of Dr Sumita Misra, IAS and Chairperson, CLS at the Hotel Aroma, Chandigarh that witnessed members of the society indulge not only in literary discussions but also exhibit their talents of storytelling and poetry writing.

Chandigarh, May 18, 2024: Chandigarh Literary Society (CLS) organised a gala event ‘MomentUs 2024’- a brainchild of Dr Sumita Misra, IAS and Chairperson, CLS at the Hotel Aroma, Chandigarh that witnessed members of the society indulge not only in literary discussions but also exhibit their talents of storytelling and poetry writing. 

The event commenced with the Chairperson of CLS, Dr Sumita Misra lighting the ceremonial lamp and seeking the blessings of the Almighty. In her address to the audience, Dr Sumita said that MomentUs has been exclusively curated for the members of CLS so that it gives them a platform to express their creative thoughts and ideas. The exchange of ideas is an important tool in creating new thoughts. Hence, events like these help in furthering the literary firmament of society. She also reiterated the fact that CLS is dedicated to curating events so that we can further contribute to the cultural landscape of our nation keeping in tandem with modern times and trends. She stressed the importance of literature in society and emphasized cultivating the habit of reading and reciting. Speaking about Shayari, she recalled her days in Lucknow and said that Mehfils used to be the epicentre of cultural and social exchange.

The first session was titled ‘Are you a LitWiz?’ which was a fun-filled literary quiz meant to test the literary acumen of the members. Dr Sunaina Jain and Lalit Singla donned the hats of the quiz masters. The second session was a panel discussion on the topic ‘Bestseller to Blockbuster’. Panelists- Dr Sonika Sethi, Dr Urvi Sharma and Shikhar Goyal talked about books which have been adapted into movies. The session was efficiently moderated by Mehak Varun.

The next session titled ‘Telling a Tale’ witnessed story writers Dr Deviyani Singh, Shubhangi Singh and Yuvika Grewal sharing the nuances of story writing with the audience. The session was smoothly moderated by Dr Manjit Kaur. ‘Made in Heaven or Earth?’ was a debate moderated by Shally Vij and members were asked to speak in favour of love and arranged marriage. Dr Pratibha, Dr Anu Girdhar, Dr Vinay Bansal, Darshan Baid, Alka Kansra, Mugdha Arora, Sahira Jain and Reena Madaan shared their views on the topic.


The last session ‘Sham-e-Shayari’ had everyone spellbound with eminent poets of the Tricity reciting their poetry. Renowned poetess of Hindustani, Dr Sumita Misra and Manmohan Singh Kohli, CEO and Managing Partner of The Aroma Classic recited their poems along with Jatin Salwan, Nisha Luthra, Rajinder Kaur, Dheerja Sharma, AnnuraniSharma, Harpreet Kaur, Rajni Pathak, Seema Gupta, Kasturika Misra, Mukta Singla and Ashwani Kumar, who shared their poems written in Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu. The session was well coordinated by Sarita Sareen Malik.

Hotel Aroma Classic and Litevents were the hospitality and literary partners respectively for the event.
