Ludhiana, October 18, 2022: In a conference held on Wednesday at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region Headquarters, members of the CII Punjab State  interacted with  with the Heads of Indian Missions in the United States, Netherlands, Russia, Turkey, Mongolia and Togo.

Giving information in this regard here late last evening, Amit Thapar, a local industrialist and Chairman, CII Punjab, said that Indian Missions Heads were: Taranjit Sandhu (USA), Reenat Sandhu (Netherlands), Pavan Kapoor (Russia), Dr Varinder Kumar Paul (Turkey), Dr. Dr Mohinder Pratap Singh (Mongolia) and Sanjeev Tandon (Togo).

He said that the interesting thing was that the Heads of all the Indian Missions were Punjabis who were sent by the Government of India to Punjab especially to interact with the industrialists and other concerned people so that the people of Punjab may be  apprised about the possibilities available in their countries.

Amit Thapar said that the people of Punjab have very little knowledge about the possibilities available in smaller countries such as Mongolia and Togo. He said that trade between India and Togo is worth three billion dollars annually. He said that these countries have immense potential for trade of agricultural implements and agricultural machinery from Punjab.

He said that from this session it also emerged that trade with Russia has definitely reduced due to the Ukraine war but not stopped. Only ten banks in Russia have closed and the rest are still functioning. Indian traders have also found new routes for trade with Russia. He said that due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, some trade imbalance must have been created as imports are worth $17 billion and exports are only $1 billion.

Thapar said that he also gave a presentation on the challenges and opportunities in Punjab at the session. He said that the CII team members were also honored to host the Indian Ambassadors on the occasion. He informed that Dilip Kumar from PSIC, KK Yadav from CEO Invest Punjab, US Yadav from ACEO Invest Punjab, Himanshu Jain from ACEO Invest Punjab were also present.
