Rohtak, May 20, 2026: Dr. Anjali Duhan, Associate Professor in the Department of Visual Arts at MDU, Rohtak, presented her research paper at the American Council of Southern Asian Arts Symposium-22, held at the National Museum of Asian Art—part of the Smithsonian Institution—in Washington D.C., USA.
In her research, Dr. Anjali Duhan presented an in-depth study of illustrated manuscripts created for the Mughal Emperor Akbar and Prince Salim during the early seventeenth century. Highlighting the interrelationship between text and illustrations in these rare Mughal-era manuscripts—which were based on translations of Sanskrit texts—she demonstrated how visual arts and literature provided a new form of expression for knowledge, culture, and tradition during that era.
Her research also elucidated that Mughal-era illustrated manuscripts were not merely examples of artistic aesthetics; rather, they served as significant mediums for the Indian knowledge tradition, cultural synthesis, and linguistic dialogue. The research presentation was highly appreciated by international art experts and scholars.
MDU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia congratulated Dr. Anjali Duhan on this achievement, stating that such academic accomplishments bolster the university's global reputation and inspire young researchers to pursue excellence in research.
