MDU Celebrates International Yoga Day with Enthusiasm

Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak (MDU) today celebrated International Yoga Day with full zeal and wholehearted participation from the university community. Faculty members, non‑teaching staff, students, family members from the campus, local residents and yoga practitioners from Rohtak gathered for a collective yoga session that emphasized health, discipline and mental well‑being.

Rohtak, June 21, 2026: Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak (MDU) today celebrated International Yoga Day with full zeal and wholehearted participation from the university community. Faculty members, non‑teaching staff, students, family members from the campus, local residents and yoga practitioners from Rohtak gathered for a collective yoga session that emphasized health, discipline and mental well‑being.

The event took place at the university’s FDC ground and was organised by the Student Welfare Office. Under the guidance of certified yoga instructor Naresh, participants performed a series of asanas and practices following the National Common Yoga Protocol. The session combined physical postures, breathing exercises and guided relaxation to promote physical fitness and mental calm.

Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. A.S. Mann, presided over the programme. In his address, he described yoga as an integrated practice of body, mind and spirit and stressed its importance in daily life. He highlighted yoga’s role in cultivating a peaceful, focused mind and encouraged everyone to adopt regular practice as a tool for overall well‑being.

Registrar Prof. Sandeep Bansal spoke on the significance of yoga in building self‑discipline and self‑awareness and its contribution to better health. He thanked all participants for their enthusiastic presence and urged the university community to make yoga an integral part of their lives. Registrar also conveyed the warm wishes and the official message of Vice‑Chancellor Prof. Milap Punia on the occasion of International Yoga Day.

The programme was organised smoothly under the coordination of Dean of Student Welfare Prof. Sapna Garg and Director of Youth Welfare Dr. Pratap Rathi. Certificates of appreciation were presented to yoga instructor and the active members of the university yoga club in recognition of their contribution to the event.

The gathering included deans and faculty members from various departments, department heads, research scholars, students, university officers, non‑teaching staff, and students from the Youth Centre for Skill Development, NCC cadets and numerous local yoga practitioners from Rohtak.
