MDU psychology alumni Sujata, a paraprofessional at Barbaria Elementary School in Ohio, US, and Annu Dhankhar, a support coordinator and social worker in Australia, shared insights into mental health support and inclusive care in their respective countries.
Sujata highlighted the role of psychological professionals in inclusive education in the US, noting that students have access to psychological counselling services at the school level. Annu explained Australia’s National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and her role in connecting people in need with support services and advising them on disability-specific requirements.
The session aimed to raise awareness about mental health and initiatives in the global context. Prof Deepti Hooda, in-charge of Happytude Lab, coordinated the programme, while psychology department chairperson Prof Anjali Malik highlighted the department’s efforts to promote mental health awareness in the community.
