Marathon Against Drug Abuse
The University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Sports Committee under the esteemed leadership and guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Shruti Bedi, Director of UILS today hosted a successful marathon event to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan' initiative, led by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The event was organized by Faculty in Charge Dr. Sunny Sharma, with support from other faculty in-charges at UILS.
Chandigarh, November 7, 2025: The University Institute of Legal Studies (UILS), Sports Committee under the esteemed leadership and guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Shruti Bedi, Director of UILS today hosted a successful marathon event to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan' initiative, led by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The event was organized by Faculty in Charge Dr. Sunny Sharma, with support from other faculty in-charges at UILS.
The marathon, which saw enthusiastic participation from over 100 students, began from the UILS campus, crossing Gandhi Bhawan and Ankur School, and concluded back at UILS. The event symbolized the commitment to a drug-free India and brought attention to the importance of maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle.
Hunar Chowdhary, President of the UILS Sports Committee, along with other post-holders, took the lead in encouraging participants and sharing insights into the significance of the initiative.
The Guest of Honour for the event, Gurdeep Singh, an ultra-marathon runner, along with Flying Officer Rohit Singh Malik, also graced the occasion and inspired the runners with their motivational speeches.
The race culminated with Yudhishthir Goyat, a 5th-year student, emerging as the winner in the Men’s category, and Shivangi, a 3rd-year student, claiming the top spot in the Women’s category. Their victories were celebrated as symbols of perseverance and dedication.
This event not only highlighted the importance of physical fitness but also reinforced the commitment to a drug-free society in line with the vision of the 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.'
