New Delhi, Aug 28 (IANS) Marathi TV actress Shubhangi Gokhale delves into detail to talk about her role in the comedy drama 'Maddam Sir' and how the scenario of comedy has changed over time on TV especially with the shows like this.

Briefing IANS about her on screen personality, Gokhale said: "Being a wife of a ticket collector, she has travelled a lot and she's extremely fond of detective novels, and that interest rubs off on her way of thinking. Humorously enough, she tries looking at every circumstance from the perspective of a detective. Whether this is beneficial or not for solving cases at Mahila Police Thana, only time will tell."

The show that highlights the lives of four female officers in Lucknow's Mahila Police Thana, brings out feminine instincts to solve cases. As the show addresses social issues through four women police officers it is titled, 'Maddam Sir'.

Prominently known for her works in Marathi entertainment industry, the actress has been part of serials such as 'Raja Rani Chi Ga Jodi', 'Yeu Kashi Tashi Me Nandayla' and she was also seen in the Hindi daily soap 'Chidiya Ghar'. The actress reveals the reason for doing the sitcom and according to her what is the USP of the show?

She replies: "I choose my work opportunities with utmost care, and I was drawn to the story of 'Maddam Sir' when I first heard it. It's always fun to work on a well-written show, and kudos to the production house, directors and writers for it. I really admire how it's a perfect blend of social messages, humour and simplicity."

Further she elaborates how shows like 'Maddam Sir' have helped in evolving the scenario of comedy on TV.

She said: "Maddam Sir as a show is more wholesome entertainment that brings a smile on one's face and evokes a feeling of warmth and emotions through its appealing storyline. It's a perfect living room content for families.

"Earlier, such shows were male-dominated and the funnier side of the female characters was shown in a limited way, but that's not true anymore. Maddam' Sir involves a stellar female cast and each character is humorous in its own way and I'm glad to see this change ushering in."
